Our tutors
We have brought together a core of over 50 tutors who we believe are the best in the business. Many are full time private tutors, and the rest are drawn from Oxford University , private tutorial colleges and schools. Their distinguishing feature is that they all have specialist experience of teaching intensive revision in small tutorial groups. This is a complimentary but distinct skill from school teaching (see 'Our Teaching Approach' below). Some of our tutors are A-level and GCSE examiners, and most are Oxford graduates who know what it takes to achieve top grades. This does not mean that we cater only for the 'high flyers'. We will help all students of any level or ability to reach their maximum potential in exams. Many of our science tutors are currently, or have been, involved in academic research, which often enables them to bring special insight and enthusiasm to their subject!

Our teaching approach
Teaching is based on the tutorial system employed by Oxford University , involving small study groups each with their own tutor. Tutorials last 50 minutes, which we have found over the years to be the optimum length in terms of students' concentration.

Our average group size is 3 to 4 students to a class. This enables us to tailor our courses to suit the individual needs of each student, taking into account their relevant examining boards and modules to be covered, as well as the ability of each student and any particular problems they may be experiencing with a subject. It also enables us to take a personal interest in the welfare and progress of each person individually.

If a student's requirements are unique for any part of the course and we are unable to place them in a compatible group, they will be offered individual tuition with no reduction in contact hours or increase of fees.

Exam practice
We believe that exam practice is the key to success in public exams. Very often students who attend our courses have a good knowledge of their subjects, but are unable to demonstrate this adequately in exams. Our methods of teaching revolve strongly around exam practice and technique. After each 50 minute tutorial, students attempt another 50 minutes exam questions relating to the topics just covered. This not only serves to uncover any gaps in their knowledge, but it also enables our tutors to assess how the student will perform in real exams, and to identify any deficiencies in their exam technique.

Course content
We do not provide itemised course outlines for each subject, as our courses are designed according to each student's individual requirements. For example, we do not offer a general A2 Chemistry course, as some students may have already taken some modules. On the registration form students will indicate the subjects, exam board and individual modules they wish to revise. Students can if they wish also identify any specific areas within a subject or module on which they would like to place particular emphasis. We will then organise the students into compatible study groups and design the course according to their particular requirements. Students may therefore be part of several different small study groups during the week.

Who can enrol?

Student Testimonials

"Just thought you'd like to know that Max, who attended your Easter week's French revision course turned a 'U' grade mock AS into a 'B' grade in the actual AS. He'd lost confidence in his French, chiefly by not having grasped some of the basics. The tutoring you provided allowed him to ask the stupid questions without embarrassment and cover his knowledge gaps. When he got back to school he was firing on all cylinders. Please can you pass on the terrific result to his tutor. Thank you and we will no doubt be seeing you again at Easter."
