Geography Reading Recommendations

Geography by Danny Dorling and Carl Lee

Recommended by Becky for students of Geography at GCSE/IGCSE and above.

Why is this book useful?

This book is a great overview of what geography is, and how it studies and links together all kinds of different sciences and humanities such as globalisation, (in)equality, population growth, sustainability, climate change and technology.

Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall

Recommended by Becky for students of Geography at A Level and IB, especially those planning to apply for Geography or a related subject at university.

Why is this book so important?

This book has become an informal ‘set text’ for geographers and is probably the most commonly-quoted book in UCAS personal statements for geography degrees. The book looks at different parts of the world and shows how their physical features, like rivers, mountains, and coastlines have influenced development and geopolitics, and how some countries, despite the technological advances of the 21st century, remain constrained by their geography.
